Choosing the right hat is all about balance, accentuating your best features,
adding a splash of color and lifting your spirits. Choose a hat
that is flattering on you and makes you feelspecial, beautiful, mysterious,
playful, fun. Choose one that matches your lifestyle, wardrobe and
body shape. For example, a tall slender woman would prefer a hat
that has more width, rather than additional height, which would
tend to make her appear taller.
A smaller face would be enhanced by a smaller angled, perched or cocktail
hat, or a hat with a smaller overall proportion with respect to
shape and brim size, rather than a large hat that might tend to
drown your beautiful facial features. A wider face would be better
with a more narrow brim, and a thin face with a larger brim. A round
face will look be best complimented by a hat with a square shaped
or asymmetrical brim , or one worn at an angle.
Choose colours that suit your complexion. If you are wearing a dark colour
and want to brighten it up, you can enhance the hat / headpiece
with tints of your accessory colour. Choosing a hat the same colour
as your outfit is totally a personal choice, but do remember that
a mix of colours can add interest to the overall look. When you
are feeling that extra bit of confidence, bold contrast may work
wonders. However if you are feeling only a little adventurous a
subtle blend of colours may be just enough.
Please remember that there are no strict or formal rules to hat wearing.
The important things are comfort, choosing a color that enhances
your complexion or your outfit, adds something special to your splendid
appearance, and one that allows you smile, laugh, exude an aura
of confidence and have fun.
